ALL 2012 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest – in HIGH RESOLUTION. Part 3: “Spontaneous Moments”, Weeks 7-14 (60 Photos)

“Spotted Was Eye”. While on the Anhinga Trail in the southern Everglades, an anhinga notices my movement as I softly approach for a closer photograph. Seconds before I push the shutter, this bird was scoping its surroundings in a nearby bush to its left, my right, and then as I took one step closer to snap the shot, I was spotted and the anhinga looked directly at me for this one photograph. Location: Everglades National Park, Florida, United States. (Photo and caption by Craig Dillenbeck/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest)
