The Berlin & Freiburg-based duo deftly translates the scale of the lightly stained woodgrain to create the winsome scenes. From swimsuit-clad sunbathers on a sparsely populated beach to cabins against a backdrop of fresh snow, it takes just a couple well-placed elements, digitally printed on plywood, to suggest an aerial image on the otherwise unassuming tabletop.

We pleased to present Broken Mirror/Evening Sky, a new series of striking landscape photographs by New York based artist Bing Wright. Departing from his usual pared down images in grey palettes, Wright offers us moving skyscape photographs of richly colored sunsets reflected onto broken mirrors. This new body of work marks his first return to color photography in almost a decade.

These images by Buenos Aires-based graphic design student Martín De Pasquale are so surreal that, obviously, you know they are photoshopped. But they are perfectly executed and very funny. Do tears of joy look the same as ones of woe—or ones from chopping onions? In “The Topography of Tears,” the Los Angeles-based photographer Rose-Lynn Fisher explores the physical terrain of one hundred tears emitted during a range of emotional states and physical reactions. Using a Zeiss microscope with an attached digital camera, she captures the composition of tears enclosed in glass slides, magnified between 10x and 40x. “There are many factors that determine the look of each tear image, including the viscosity of the tear, the chemistry of the weeper, the settings of the microscope, and the way I process the images afterwards,” she says.
