Elements of nature are too powerful for humans to subdue, yet it didn’t stop the most courageous individuals from trying. Conquering air, land, fire, water, and even the very fabric of reality – this is the ultimate goal of humanity. For now, we can only marvel at the beauty and tremble in awe before the Mother Nature. A short film “Ocean Gravity,” written and directed by Julie Gautier and Guillaume Nery, reminds us of how small and insignificant a human body is, as it is being swept away by an ocean current. Nevertheless, it never stopped people from attempting to subjugate these unstoppable forces, and someday, maybe the humanity will come out victorious.

Do you ever get the irresistible urge to light matches on fire, especially if there are many of them in one place? If you do, you shouldn’t come near the giant globe made by an American artist Andy Yoder. The thing is, this 42” globe is made entirely out of matches on the outside, while the center was made using plywood, foam, and cardboard. It took Andy two years to complete his work, finally finishing in 2014. Each of the matches used was hand-painted and then glued in place. Also, in order to prevent his masterpiece from catching fire, Andy Yoder has doused his work with a flame repellant.

Every November (AKA Dinovember), Refe Tuma and his wife pose their kids’ plastic dinosaurs engaging in activities in order to convince their kids the toys come to life while they sleep. It started out small, with dinosaurs stealing food from the kitchen and making small messes, but Dinovember quickely escalated into dinosaurs playing board games, kidnapping other toys, and watching that scene from The Land Before Time while crying tiny little toy dinosaur tears made from paper.

Modern art is truly fascinating. Not in a way that it produces some novel things that will fascinate future generations for decades and even centuries to come. No, that is very far from the truth. On the contrary, modern art is essentially anything (yes, any little thing) that is a bit unusual and was created by a famous person. Let’s take the creation of Antoine Bridier-Nahmias for example. His brainchild is a set of pictures of petri dishes that were contaminated by various cultures of fungi. If this is art, I missed my chance of becoming famous when I accidentally left a piece of bread in a bag in a cupboard for about six months, and didn’t take a picture of the rather shocking results that awaited me when I finally discovered it. Hamlet the micro pig may already be a hit on Instagram, but its not stopped her from hogging the limelight on her birthday. Known for her adorable costume play, the miniature pig, from Pasadena, California, celebrated her first birthday in style, inviting all her furry Instagram friends to join her party. Pictured wearing a bright pink tutu and a tiara fit for a princess, Hamlet, who is named after Lady Hamlet from the Shakespeare play, shows that shes no boar when it comes to partying. The incredible detail in each photo is thanks to Jordi Benitez Castells, years of experience taking photos while diving. Jordi, 40, from El Vendrell, Spain, was in Catalunya when he took the photos and managed to get the snaps at about three metres below the surface in most cases.
