Anti-balaka militia originally sprang up to protect the Christian population of the Central African Republic, but now stand accused of human rights abuses themselves. At 10,582 square kilometres, the Bolivian salt flats – otherwise known as Salar de Uyuni – are the largest on the planet and contain between 50 and 70% of the world’s lithium reserves. After exploring Chile and Argentina, photographer Joel Santos decided to travel to Bolivia in January 2017 to check the salt flats off his bucket list. These are incredible pictures of skilled aircraft pilots flying through raging infernos to put out enormous flames. Daredevil Italian photographer Antonio Grambone, 46, jumped up close to the blaze to capture the incredible images of forest fires in the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, in the province of Salerno in Italy. At great risk to himself, Antonio captured these incredible shots making them appear like Italian masterpieces.

These portraits reveal the incredibly humanlike expressions of a variety of apes.Through piercing eyes and finite facial details, the intimate photographs show the animals looking angry, sad, delighted and pensive. They are the works of Manuela Kulpa – an IT consultant and keen photographer from near Cologne, Germany – who shot the apes predominantly at zoos across Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands.
