Twin brothers and Brazilian artists Octavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, known together as Os Gemeos, just finished their latest project – a colossal mural covering six industrial silos on Granville Island in Vancouver, Canada. The mural, which is part of the Vancouver Biennale, depicts six vividly colored 70 foot (23 meter) tall characters. The six silos are wrapped all the way around,giving it a total area of 23,500 square feet (7,200 sq meters).

These pictures were bought by EspressoBuzz at an estate sale, and later scanned. Apparently, they all date from the 1944 year.

U.S. Marine Alex Minsky lost his leg and nearly died in Afghanistan three years ago, when he and his fellow Marines fell victim to a roadside bomb. After recovering from a coma and learning to use his new prosthetic leg, the Purple Heart recipient fell into depression and started drinking.

Italian artist Guiliano Mauri is the father of this spectacular Cattedrale Vegetale (Tree Cathedral), a unique building created out of rows of real living trees. Located at the foot of Mount Arera on the outskirts of Bergamo in Northern Italy, the cathedral is an ever-changing building that will be fully formed over the course of decades – when the trees outgrow their supporting columns and become a piece of natural architecture.

Winnie Truong was born in Toronto, where she still lives, and received her BFA in painting and drawing from Ontario College of Art and Design.

Using pencil, crayon, and chalk pastel on giant sheets of paper, Truong creates portraits with great detail. Her aim is to explore notions of beauty and discomfort and, inspired by science fiction, she portrays hair in all its ‘whiskery, wispy, curly, bristly’ brilliance.
