The War in Abkhazia from 1992 to 1993 was fought between Georgian government forces for the most part, and Abkhaz separatist forces, Russian armed forces and North Caucasian militants. Ethnic Georgians who lived in Abkhazia fought largely on the side of Georgian government forces. Ethnic Armenians and Russians within Abkhazia's population largely supported the Abkhazians, and many fought on their side. The separatists received support from thousands of North Caucasus and Cossack militants and from the Russian Federation forces stationed in and near Abkhazia. Here: Abkhazia. Sukhumi, 1993. Dogs and Children

It’s the topic of one never-ending conundrum — do dogs look like their owners? If this is indeed true, do dogs grow to mimic their owners, or do owners choose a dog in their own image? Toby balances halloween decorations on his head. (Photo by Pat Langer/Caters News Agency)

Toby, an 11-year-old German shepherd-husky mix, can hold almost anything on his head that his owner, Pat Langner, can think up, including balls, Christmas trees, and even the ingredients for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He also shows remarkable self-restraint by not immediately gobbling down the food that his owner gives him to balance. Here: Toby balances halloween decorations on his head.
