Abkhazia. Sukhumi, 1993. A house-to-house combat. (Photo by Andrei Solovyov/ITAR-TASS)

The War in Abkhazia from 1992 to 1993 was fought between Georgian government forces for the most part, and Abkhaz separatist forces, Russian armed forces and North Caucasian militants. Ethnic Georgians who lived in Abkhazia fought largely on the side of Georgian government forces. Ethnic Armenians and Russians within Abkhazia's population largely supported the Abkhazians, and many fought on their side. The separatists received support from thousands of North Caucasus and Cossack militants and from the Russian Federation forces stationed in and near Abkhazia. Here: Abkhazia. Sukhumi, 1993. little people street art

The street artist known only as Slinkachu has been abandoning little people on the streets of London since 2006. His first project, “Little People in the City”, saw minature men, women and children living their lives on the streets of London and was immortalised in the 2008 book entitled “Little People in the City”. Since then, Slinkachu has done a number of other projects, notably “Whatever Happened to the Men of Tomorrow” which documented the decline of a tiny, middleaged and balding super-hero on the streets of London and “Inner City Snail – a slow moving street art project” which saw Slinkachu “customising” a number of London snails which then presumably went about their business none the wiser.

Hyperrealistic Portraits By Sean Yoro aka Hula

Hawaiian surfer Sean Yoro aka Hula combines his love of surfing and his artistic talent, creating hyperrealistic portraits of bathing women at different seaside locations. His work is inspired by street art and abandoned spaces that he uses as his hard-to-reach canvases. Carefully carrying cans of colored paint on the edge of his board, the New York-based artist applies his half submerged female portraits onto the wall.
