Artist Michael Tompert, a former graphic designer at Apple, is putting on an exhibition showing Apple products which he has destroyed in various ways – burned with blowtorches, smashed with sledgehammers, chopped up with handsaws or shot with a handgun.

The results are then photographed in the typically fetishistic style of Tompert’s former employer, all close-up and against a plain white background.

Presumably the image editing was done elsewhere, what with all his own gear being smashed up all over the studio and all.

The White Egret Flower - Habenaria Radiata

The close-up of the Pecteilis radiata is very reminiscent of a beautiful white bird soaring in the skies. This is probably the reason why people have started calling this flower the White Egret Flower. Truly, the resemblance of this flower to an egret flying through heavens is staggering. It is too bad that these flowers are so small. Otherwise, they would make for a stunning bouquet. However, who wouldn’t want to receive such a precious flower as a gift; a flower which can be used as a symbol for beauty, good intentions, and the purity of soul. (Photo by AngiBudd)

Gun-Toting Animals By Xiau Fong
Tempering the violence of modern weaponry with charmingly rendered creatures, artist Xiau-Fong Wee captures a dark humor in her quirky drawings. While some of the weapons appear terrifyingly realistic, others such as in the ray gun wielding bunny portrait, speaks more to the fantastical worlds of science fiction. The anthropomorphic dispositions of the spectacle-wearing creatures also range in merry reverie to stern seriousness, adding to the delightful nature of these well-executed portraits. View more of the drawings below.
