Lily Winter (top) and Lana Austin (back) match up during the “Atomic 6 – Atomic Fighter” wrestling show at the Azvex Brewery in Liverpool, Britain, 21 February 2024. Atomic Pro Wrestling was started in 2023 by wrestling enthusiasts and former training mates Matt Davies, Declan McCarthy (stage name Declan Sands) and Chris Welsh as a way to showcase emerging male and female wrestling talent from England’s North and North West regions, which they felt were being overlooked and under-represented. In contrast to the highly polished world of televised WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), Atomic takes a DIY approach, holding shows at a local brewery large enough to make way for the ring, and where customers can enjoy craft beer as they watch the wrestling matches from up close. The face of a graduating student is displayed on a tablet attached to a robot during a “cyber graduation” ceremony at a school on May 22, 2020 in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. Robots represented some 179 graduating students of the Senator Rene Cayetano Science and Technology High School during a graduation ceremony that was streamed online, as mass gatherings remain prohibited in the country under the Philippine government's lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The robots were developed by alumni of the school's robotics club, which used tablets to display the faces of the graduating students as they “marched” on stage to receive their diplomas. The Philippines' Department of Health has so far reported 13,434 cases of the coronavirus in the country, with at least 846 recorded fatalities. (Photo by Ezra Acayan/Getty Images)

Karl Lagerfeld says: “It’s not all about emotions. It’s like Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, the famous opera singer, said, “If people imagined I had all the emotions I can express on stage I wouldn’t sing”. In the moment, you have to stay cool. Emotions come after and I’m not so much into emotions, I’m more into work”. Here: Balmain, Spring/Summer 2011. (Photo by Matt Lever)

Warriors from the Suri tribe in Ethiopia still stage the savage “Donga” battles – even after many fighters have been died from their injuries. Donga stick fights take place after the harvests, the Surmas count days owing to knots on a long stem of grass or jags on the trunk of a tree dedicated to that specific use.
