These Halloween horrors were all carved out of humble pumpkins by Ray Villafane and his team of professional sculptors who meticulously carved the terrifying characters using spoons and scalpels. Each one takes on average two hours to complete – with the horrifying results netting Villafane, plus colleagues Andy Bergholtz and Chris Vierra, numerous TV appearances each Halloween. This year the team has gone global travelling to Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong to create their masterpieces. Canadian-Israeli film director Simcha Jacobovici holds two nails during a press conference on April 12, 2011. Jacobovici believes that the two nails discovered in a Jerusalem cave were used in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Jacobovici claims that the nails were tracked to an archeology laboratory in Tel Aviv, and though cannot be 100 per cent certain that they are the nails used in the crucifixion of Jesus, he claims if “you put two and two together and they seem to imply that these are the nails”. Three-year-old tawny owl, found abandoned by its owner, is agoraphobic. Multi-skilled Bertie also likes to help Mr Middleton make a cup of tea – and is fond of sitting on top of the kettle. Mr Middleton said the domesticated owl, which he adopted after it was left abandoned on the ground, hates the outdoors. The domestic owl casts a watchful eye over Mr Middleton's handy work. The creature was found by the organic farmer abandoned on the ground.
