An adorable baby owl has proved to be a real heart-breaker thanks to its heart-shaped head. Although Griffin the Lesser Sooty Owl might look like a feather duster, the tiny eight-week old chick will soon be ready to fly. And the heart outline that surrounds his giant eyes and beak means he is set to be the star of the bird show at Taronga Zoo, Sydney. (Photo by Caters News Agency)

These adorable cats – which are twins – showcase their contrasting blue and green eyes. The fascinating pair, Iriss and Abyss, live with their owner Pavel Dyagilev, 34, in St. Petersburg, Russia. The cats have a condition called heterochromia iridis, which causes each eye to vary in color. Dyagilev said: “When I found an ad on social media that two kittens were seeking a new home, I never imagined that I'd end up with two. But I looked through the pictures of kittens and saw two twins always together on the photos. And my heart melted”. (Photo by @sis.twins/Caters News Agency)

A photographer has created a series of paw-traits of hungry dogs pulling hilarious faces as they try and catch treats. Using a unique technique, the shots are captured at the exact moment the adorable pooches attempt to catch an airborne piece of food. The dogs appear surprised, happy, sad, confused – and sometimes even so blasé they miss the treat entirely. The images were taken by Christian Vieler, a photographer from Waltrop, Germany. Here: A labrador retriever. (Photo by Christian Vieler/Caters News)
