An Olive Ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) hatchling makes its way into the sea after being released from the 'Pawikan' Sanctuary on the coastline of Labac, Naic town, Cavite province, about 50 kilometers south-east of Manila, Philippines, 19 March 2025. According to village official Roger Bilugan who runs the “Pawikan” nesting facility, sea turtles find their way again to the Labac coastline to lay their eggs after concrete breaker structures were installed to minimize the effects of waves. In the past, beach erosion due to strong waves destroyed nest-sites, Bilugan added. World Water Day is observed annually on 22 March to highlight the conservation and preservation of all bodies of water. (Photo by Francis R. Malasig/EPA)
