Members of the Yanomami people in the Surucucu region, Alto Alegre municipality, Roraima state, Brazil, 01 July 2020. The coronavirus has entered the largest indigenous land in Brazil and threatens the historical guardians of the Amazon. After centuries of fighting, the Yanomami people are now facing a "silent enemy" who has already killed at least four members of their ethnic group, including three babies. Protected by an infinite blanket of dense vegetation that covers the states of Roraima, bordering Venezuela, and Amazonas (north), the Yanomami villages are located deep in the Amazon jungle, in an area of nine million hectares – a surface similar to that of Austria – with just 28,000 inhabitants. The Body Artist community a section of the creative arts linked to the hair and beauty sector that has been so affected by the pandemic. When you are a body artist and you can't paint anybody, its time to turn the brushes on yourself. Panda Cooper has been practicing on herself as the events and festivals that she'd have been working have been cancelled one after the other. But this year's Bath Bodyart Weekend, UK, has bucked the trend of cancelling and has gone virtual with online tutorials, demonstrations and competitions. But to kick things off Panda, last years Open category winner, decided to do a self paint to launch the event that runs all weekend starting Friday 19th June, 2020.
