Sculptures in their transport cage are seen waiting for their installation on the dome of the Val-de-Grace church on April 10, 2019 in Paris, France. This is one of the largest stone cutting sites in France in recent years. The sculptures of the angels and genies of the dome of the Val-de-Grâce church, some of which have been deposited for some 24 years in order to be restored, will be replaced by copies. These sculptures, representing sixteen genies and eight angels have suffered heavily from erosion and atmospheric pollution. As the sculptures are far too fragile to be relocated and are important in the silhouette of the building which is a principal landmark the French State decided that they would be replaced by copies.
