Mr. Jean (C) (not his real name) throws saw dust into a coffin while him and his team of eight carpenters make cheap coffins on the street, even though this activity is prohibited on the public highway, in Antananarivo on April 14, 2021. Since the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Madagascar, which saw the number of deaths increase in the capital, the demand for coffins has also increased considerably. For the past three weeks, Mr. Jean and his team have been producing between 15 and 20 coffins per day, whereas before they were producing only 3 or 4 per day.
