A WWII Ilyushin Il-2 ground attack aircraft retrieved from the bottom of a lake in Murmansk Region, Russia on August 10, 2018. During the 1941-45 Great Patriotic War, the Eastern Front of World War II, the aircraft was operated by Captain Alexander Kalichev, the former commander of the 46 th aviation regiment of the Russian Northern Fleet; on August 22, 1943, the Ilyushin Il-2 attack aircraft was shot down during the assault of the Luostari airbase.
