A supporter of Kenya's opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), adorned with oranges, attends their rally at Uhuru Park grounds in a show of solidarity with teachers currently engaged in a national striker over a pay increase dispute, in capital Nairobi, September 23, 2015. Teachers in Kenya vowed to continue with a nation-wide strike that has paralysed learning in public schools if the government does not meet their demands for a 50-60 percent pay rise, union leaders said. Members of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) are staging a fourth week of strikes after the government refused to hike the pay by up to 60 percent, although the Court of Appeal supported the demand by state school teachers in a ruling in August. Researchers in France from CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and the Blaise Pascal university in Clermont-Ferrand say they have at last solved a long-standing mystery about the formation of Earth. Scientists were unable to understand why there were differences between the chemical compositions of our planet and a class of meteorites called enstatite chondrites, which are thought to be remains of the primordial material from which the Earth was formed. Now, for the first time, the team has put forward a complete scenario that explains these differences. The work is published in the British journal Nature Communications.
