CHALLOCK, ENGLAND - MARCH 31: Tony Hall walks with his dog through an installation entitled 'Super Kingdom', which hangs in trees in King's Wood as part of the Stour Valley Arts project on March 31, 2011 in Challock, England. The works by artists Bruce Gilchrist and Jo Joelson of 'London Fieldworks' consist of a series of interesting animal habitats, modelled on the palaces of Stalin, Ceauscescu and Mussolini, and offer nesting sites to many native and migrant species. “A skydiver has made history by smashing the world record for the highest skydive after leaping from 128,097ft (39,044m). Daredevil Felix Baumgartner ascended to the edge of space in a pressurised capsule suspended beneath a giant helium balloon. He then jumped out, freefalling for four minutes and 19 seconds before opening his parachute”.

Eustace remained in a free fall for approximately 4.5 minutes before landing safely nearly 70 miles (43.4 kms) from his launch point, setting a world record for the highest skydive and breaking the sound barrier in the process. Eustace landed safely on the ground just 15 minutes after he was lifted into the air. (Photo by Reuters/Paragon Space Development Corporation)

In this photo taken on Monday, October 27, 2014, a cactus stands at a broken window in a damaged house after shelling not far from Donetsk airport in the town of Donetsk, eastern Ukraine. Donetsk, which has lost about 400,000 of its 1 million pre-war population, is bracing to a winter ahead. In a climate like eastern Ukraine's, where temperatures typically stay below zero all winter, the damage to the critical infrastructure and lack of effort to provide adequate shelter to people whose homes were destroyed could literally mean a death from the cold.
