A serene turquoise glow glimmers from underneath these powerful icebergs. Stood in the middle of Antarctica, the giant icebergs appear to be from an unearthly world. Tracy Raver's photos of babies – particularly sleeping babies – are adorable. The Nebraska-based photographer appeared on the Today Show Friday, September 11. Raver shoots portraits of babies at rest and in all sorts of positions. Full-bellies and a warm studio go a long way in coaxing the babies to sleep.

Layers of breathtaking colour streak the rolling hills of this vast desert, making the landscape appear as though it has been tie-dyed. The natural phenomenon, nicknamed the “Painted Desert”, was formed when the area was once a river floodplain. Each colour corresponds to a different underground geological feature – rocks which have seemingly dyed the layers of earth above. Formed from volcanic activity, the hills at the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in East Central Oregon, USA, are almost bursting with colour. A 500-pound lion and an 11-pound dog have formed an unlikely friendship, proving that cats and dogs really can get along. Bonedigger the lion and Milo the dachshund live together at Garold Wayne Exotic Animal Park in Wynnewood, Okla., along with three other dogs. The puppies were introduced to Bonedigger in 2008 when he was just a 4-week-old cub.
