The Islamic Emirate's Supreme Leader, Mawlawi Hebatullah Akhundzada, on 02 April 2023 has imposed a strict ban on the cultivation, use, and trafficking of all illicit drugs, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said. This came after the Anti-Narcotics Management Forces of the Balkh Province Police Command reported that in the past year, 2,200 acres of land have been cleared of poppy and hashish cultivation. Ghulam Abbas has been making solar water heaters from basic equipment which can be used to cook food and heat water in a short time for free. He has received orders from the province, and has asked for more attention and support from the Islamic Emirate and businesses to help promote the use of solar energy in the country. Solar cooking has grown in popularity in Afghanistan, due to its convenience and cost-effectiveness.
