Black Grouse birds seen indulging in the courtship and mating rituals at dawn on February 23, 2018 in Hamra National Park, Sweden. German wildlife photographer Ingo Gerlach has captured the courtship and mating rituals of the Black Grouse, a large sedentary game bird found across Northern Eurasia. The striking feature of this bird is the bright red wattle over the eye of the larger all black males, while the females are smaller and brown-grey in colour. Also known as blackcock or black game, these birds are famous for the elaborate and distinctive courtship rituals performed by the males. Ingo captured this very phenomenon in the Hamra National Park in central Sweden. (Photo by Ingo Gerlach/Barcroft Media)
