Lava erupts from a crater of Mt. Etna, Europe's largest active volcano, near Catania, in southern Italian island of Sicily, late Saturday, July 31, 2021. While Catania is suffering because of wildfires that reached the outskirts of the city – due to extremely high temperature and, sometimes, arson – the volcano continues its spectacular activities. A new eruption at Etna volcano on August 29, 2021 after 20 days from the last event in Catania, Italy. Once again, the Southeast Crater erupted, the highest jets of the lava fountain have reached 600 meters, the eruptive column was carried by the wind to the southeast, and the heavy rain of ash fell on the town of Zafferana Etnea and on neighboring villages. This is the fifty-second eruptive episode in 2021, such a large series of eruptions in such a short period of time had not happened for 20 years.
