Street vendors selling water grass wade through a flooded road in Dar Ka township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, Myanmar, 12 August 2015. Myanmar's government on 04 August 2015 warned low-lying regions to expect even more flooding after heavy rainfall brought havoc to higher areas further north. Weeks of heavy monsoon rain have affected over one million people, about 100 people so far are reported dead and damaged was caused to more than 687,200 acres of farmland. The water has receded in many areas, many roads and bridges were destroyed in the worst affected states and regions. Transportation remains a challenge for ongoing assessments and delivery of assistance. A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal could bring strong winds and heavy rainfall to the Ayeyarwady Region and the southern coast of Rakhine State, already affected by the floods, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) report.
