Indonesian public order agency security officers pull up protesting residents from the road during the demolition of illegal houses at a slum area in Jakarta, Indonesia, 11 April 2016. The Jakarta administration deployed at least 4,000 personnel including police, military and members of the public order agency to begin the demolition process of the Luar Batang neighborhood in North Jakarta. According to media reports, more than 500 makeshift houses and permanent residences were demolished as the government plans to increase public spaces and tourist attractions in the area. Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that the illegal residents in the area use stalls intended for commercial use as homes.
