Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2017 Winners

“Planets, Comets and Asteroids”. Runner up: Retrograde Mars and Saturn by Tunç Tezel (Turkey) The paths of the planets Mars and Saturn shown swooping through the night sky, over a period of 11 months in 2016. Last year was a special year for monitoring the two planets because they spent the year close to each other, north of Antares in Scorpius. The planets were photographed on 46 different dates over 11 months, roughly once per week.
