The Week in Pictures: May 3 – May 9, 2014. Part 2/5

Young people play football in the ruins of the building Belisario Penna, located in the village of Paricatuba, about 35 km from Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, crossing the bridge over the Negro River, on May 9, 2014. The building, built in 1898, served to host Italian immigrants but a few years later – in 1906 – it housed the institute Afonso Pena, a shelter for lepers. Currently, only the ruins of the building remain there and the place is an attraction for tourists, while for the residents of Paricatuba, it works as a space for football and leisure.
