Tacos of Cochinita Pibil, a popular dish from Yucatan, are seen during an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world's longest taco in Guadalajara February 15, 2015. Guadalajara broke the Guinness record for the longest taco of cochinita pibil, with a length of 2.5 kilometers, as part of the COME gastronomy festival, local media reported. Ice Alaska – World Ice Art Championships 2013

Every year in Fairbanks, Alaska, the World Ice Art Championships takes place, and it is no cute little side hobby. Praised as one of the world’s largest ice sculpting competitions and exhibitions, the World Ice Art Championships has grown into a month-long event featuring more than 70 teams from around the world. The works are stunning and often massive in both size and visual appeal.

For centuries, the essential mineral has been mined by the Afar people, known for their ability to withstand extremes. The terrain is rugged, travelers are scarce and so are motor vehicles, where the average annual temperature is the highest in the world, and can rise to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, 50 degrees Celsius.
