Edinburgh-based physicist-turned-web-designer Tom Beddard was inspired by geometry to create these virtual Fabergé fractals – made up of self-repeating patterns, so that structures within the object resemble the whole. “Within a 3D fractal, there is infinite detail”, says Beddard, 37. “The closer you zoom in, the more structure is revealed”. Beddard rendered the fractals using WebGL, a technology used to animate 3D scenes in a browser.

Frank Melech is a german artist that works with illustration and digital compositing. What we’re bringing you here today is a slice of such work that we thought, besides remarkably talended, highly creative, because Frank Melech starts with a light bulb, a universal symbol of Idea but also a metaphor for an enclosed but transparent world, and inserts in them precisely other worlds and ideas.

Jason Freeny is pretty well known for his dissection illustrations and toys, showing the inner workings of just about every pop culture icon or toy out there. A creative Dad brings family-favourite cartoon characters to life by putting them into hilarious situations. You would be forgiven for thinking that the following images are created using Photoshop – but complete with real fire and coffee splashes, Mitchel Wuís images are all shot in real-time. Using plastic toy characters from family-favourite films such as Toy Story, Star Wars, ET and The Muppets, the California-based photographer puts the plastic characters into surreal situations.
