The Monkey and the Mask: Terrifying Portraits of Indonesia’s Street-Performing Macaques. (Photo by Perttu Saksa)

“A Kind of You” is a documentary work of an uncanny asian tradition, where monkeys are trained and dressed to act humanlike in order to ask money from the bypassers. Modern city culture has turned the old tradition in to eerie and haunting act of cruel street theatre where animals become something else, never able to reach our expectations”. – Perttu Saksa. The Songkran festival

“The Songkran festival is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year's Day from 13 to 15 April. It coincides with the New Year of many calendars of South and Southeast Asia. The most obvious celebration of Songkran is the throwing of water upon others. Thais roam the streets with containers of water or water guns. In addition, many Thais will have small bowls of beige colored talc sold cheaply and mixed with water which is then smeared on the faces and bodies of random passerbys as a blessing for the new year” – Wikipedia. Praying Mantis Rides Snail Through Borneo Jungle. (Photo by Nordin Seruyan/Barcroft Media)

“Check out this praying mantis totally bossing a trek through the Borneo jungle – on the back of a snail. Yes, it may not be the fastest mode of transport for the discerning traveller, but at least the green chap isn't getting his feet wet. The slightly sinister sight was captured by snapper Nordin Seruyan in central Borneo”. – Sara C. Nelson via Barcroft Media. (Photo by Nordin Seruyan/Barcroft Media)
