James Kerr started his project “Scorpion Dagger” without any real direction, except for the intention to make one GIF everyday(ish) for one year. He had been making collages for some time and “Scorpion Dagger” started out to be a test of discipline and a way for him to learn how to animate. Making GIFs was a logical evolution to him. The project represents many different things to him, the works from which he draws upon are so powerful and inspirational to him, that he is now nearly obsessed with repurposing them to share his vision of the world, and perhaps inspire people to look at art differently. The project is tremendously personal to him, it’s a lot more than the humor that’s at its surface and he is still trying to work out what “Scorpion Dagger” really is.

In his newest series of photos called Low Tech, Kevin Twomey artfully captures the complexity of old-style typewriters and similar machines. Despite being completely outdated, you cannot help being amazed at how complicated those “simple” devises really are. Hundreds of little parts were meticulously put together to form a machine that would perform such “basic” functions by today’s standards. Similarly, very few modern people actually think about how complicated the current technology really is. We take for granted streaming videos, GPS, and countless devises that we use every day, while in reality, these things would seem like magic to even the most prominent scientists from only half a century ago. As the sea levels around the globe rise, researchers affilitated with the National Science Foundation and other organizations are studying the phenomena of the melting glaciers and its long-term ramifications. The warmer temperatures that have had an effect on the glaciers in Greenland also have altered the ways in which the local populace farm, fish, hunt and even travel across land. In recent years, sea level rise in places such as Miami Beach has led to increased street flooding and prompted leaders such as New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to propose a $19.5 billion plan to boost the citys capacity to withstand future extreme weather events by, among other things, devising mechanisms to withstand flooding. Baby fashion blogs as well as baby bloggers became a big thing during the last couple of years. A lot of attention is devoted to celebrity kids that are in step with their star parents and from day to day keep demonstrating us chic and utterly trendy looks. However, in this article we want to talk about a usual kid that fully deserves a title of a style icon. Alonso Mateo is only five years old but he is already a popular fashion blogger, whose manner of dressing is favored by 2,500 Instagram followers. He uses Instagram as a platform for demonstrating his chic looks.

Usually, we can only expect mischief from a group of overactive students. However, three talented students from Germany have amazed us with their dedication for beautifying their hometown. The electrical towers were always considered to be big ugly things. Most of the time, the electrical towers look awkward and completely ruin the beautiful landscape behind them. Nevertheless, the young minds have thought of a way to turn these towers into multicolored lighthouses, which immediately draw the attention of all the passersby and look as if they were brought here from a different world. All that was needed to achieve this was a little bit of imagination, colored plastic, and some spare time. Let us hope that this is only the beginning of the journey of these young artists.
