Despite the high winds and fright temperatures, about 1/2 dozen brave members of the Coney Island Polar Bear Club took a dip in the Atlantic Ocean at March 14, 2017, just of Stillwell avenue in Coney Island beach in Brooklyn NYC. Snow began blanketing northeastern United States on Tuesday as a winter storm packing blizzard conditions rolled into the region, prompting public officials to ask people to stay home while airlines grounded flights and schools canceled classes. The National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings for parts of eight states including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut, with forecasts calling for up to 2 feet of snow by early Wednesday, with temperatures 15 to 30 degrees below normal for this time of year. These adorable cats – which are twins – showcase their contrasting blue and green eyes. The fascinating pair, Iriss and Abyss, live with their owner Pavel Dyagilev, 34, in St. Petersburg, Russia. The cats have a condition called heterochromia iridis, which causes each eye to vary in color. Dyagilev said: “When I found an ad on social media that two kittens were seeking a new home, I never imagined that I'd end up with two. Turbines of the new Burbo Bank off shore wind farm lay in the wake of a maintenance boat in the mouth of the River Mersey on May 12, 2008 in Liverpool, England. The Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm comprises 25 wind turbines and is situated on the Burbo Flats in Liverpool Bay at the entrance to the River Mersey, approximately 6.4km (4.0 miles) from the Sefton coastline and 7.2km (4.5 miles) from North Wirral. The wind farm is capable of generating up to 90MW (megawatts) of clean, environmentally sustainable electricity. This is enough power for approximately 80,000 homes. Londoners enjoy a “Silent Night” as Big Ben falls silent, London, UK on August 21, 2017. Londoners snuggle up to enjoy the city's first silent night as Big Ben chimed its last for four years. As the sun set over London last night the city bid a temporary farewell to the chimes of its beloved Big Ben. Londoners were testing out the new quiet of the Southbank in an unusual fashion. A luxurious bed, courtesy of bed firm, Silentnight, complete with fluffy white duvet, plump pillows, a hot water bottle and a cuddly toy, emerged in the heart of the city, just in time for bed. It didn't take local residents and workers long to make the most of the peace and quiet with the city's tired workers climbing in for a nap.
