Jetman during a trial flight from Fond du Lac airport on Monday July 29, 2013. While skydiving several years ago Yves Rossy thought it would be cool to not just fall to earth but fly around with a jetpack on his back. So he invented one and will jump out of a helicopter over Oshkosh on Tuesday at AirVenture air and zoom around in his jetpack, his first public appearance in the U.S. (Photo by Mike Shore/Courtesy of Breitling)

Yves “Jetman”, Rossy made his first public performance in the United States on Tuesday during the afternoon air show at EAA AirVenture. As thousands of spectators leaned back and clicked cameras, Rossy jumped out of a helicopter with his 6-foot carbon fiber wing armed with four 45-pound-thrust JetCat engines strapped to his back. Elvan's story – he spent 269 days in a coma – gripped the nation and became a symbol of the heavy-handed tactics used by police to reign in the biggest demonstrations against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan since he came to power in 2003. A Cat As Model By Joann Biondi

For 20 years, Joann Biondi worked as a freelance writer. Then one day she adopted a kitten that had been tossed in a garbage can and left for dead. That kitten had an unusual quirk; he liked to wear clothes and pose for the camera. So Joann started shooting, and then she got serious about photography. Fast forward four years and that kitten is now Lorenzo the Cat, a feline art photography project that has gotten both the cat and the photographer a lot of attention; gallery shows, museum exhibits, and stories in major media outlets throughout the world. Amid it all Lorenzo has remained a mellow dude who still likes to roll around in the dirt, chase lizards, and knock things off the kitchen counter when his food bowl is empty.

Family Tree By Zhang Huan

All the people we meet, all the things we know, and all of our experiences shape our souls, forever marking our faces. This was probably the main idea of the performance piece created by Chinese artist Zhang Huan, in which his face was painted over by three calligraphers with the names of people he knew, personal stories, and random thoughts. Truly, it amazing just how much we can find out about a person just by looking at their face. Surely, not everyone has the ability to see into the soul of the person just by looking at their face, but those that do can easily see the person’s personality, their intelligence, and sometimes even get glimpse into their past. Though it sounds like magic to people who don’t have this ability, it is completely true. Somehow, our mind can pick up on the miniscule changes of the facial structure and figure out the dominant facial expressions of that person. (Photo by Zhang Huan)

A member of the Indian company Margi Kathakali theatre performs during “Kijote Kathakali”, a Kathakali recital based on the Spanish classic “Don Quixote”, at the Niemeyer Center in Aviles, northern Spain, July 29, 2016. The performance and text captured the essence of the novel while sticking to the format of Kathakali. Kathakali is one of the major forms of classical Indian dance. It is another “story play” genre of art, but one distinguished by its elaborately colorful make-up, costumes and face masks wearing actor-dancers, who have traditionally been all males.
