Sarel Theron is a freelance digital matte painter and concept artist from Cape Town, South Africa. Theron has worked on numerous projects for local and international clients, including book cover illustrations, matte paintings for commercials, concept art for various pitches, and tutorials for digital art magazines.

Over 160 photographs, costumes, illustrations and magazine covers will be displayed at Los Angeles' Getty Center, until October 21. The display features a century of art from 1911 through to 2011. An example is that, when I was thinking about the Invasion series, I was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds (1963). I love Hitchcock’s other movies and have been contemplating a series based on Rear Window (1954). I also find inspiration outside the cinema in music clips and magazines”. “Photographer Mario Testino shot Jennifer Lopez wearing a variety of sports and boxing gear for the cover story of V Magazine’s new “Sports Issue” (no. 76 Spring 2012). The piece, entitled “Tha Lady Is A Champ” was styled by Carine Roitfeld, and sees J. Lo rocking a jock strap, boxing gloves, various leather jackets, robes and often not much else. Jennifer is looking as good as ever”.

These pictures, made by Joel Strong, look as if a giant hand is pinching the head of a poor Leo. Leo, however, is oblivious to this fact and continues on with his life, taking on a role of everyone from an old granny to a young lady. Thanks to Joel’s skill and sense of humor, the cut out heads of Leonardo DiCaprio, taken from 90s magazines, fit perfectly into the new scenes. If seeing young Leo with a body of an old granny or a fat, half-naked guy in the park doesn’t strike you as funny, we don’t know what will. (Photo by Joel Strong)
