Wow 16th Avenue Tiled Step Project

The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps project is a wonderful display of community effort and artistic vision. 163 steps are tiled with mosaic panels set into the risers which were designed by artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher. Over 300 neighbors helped in the making of the panels with over 220 neighbors sponsoring handmade animal, bird, and fish name tiles which are imbedded within the mosaics. KZ Tile, a major San Franciscan tile-setting company generously agreed to set the mosaic panels into the risers and to tile the step treads with rough, nonslip tile.

Funny Pencil Shaving Art by Marta Altes

When Marta Altes sharpens her pencil, she doesn’t see waste in the shavings – she sees possibilities. The graphic designer was originally trained in Barcelona before moving to England to pursue her MA in Children’s Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art. Her playful, simple pieces burst with child-like creativity, turning pencil shavings into a lion’s mane or a cape for a bullfighter. Skoda is celebrating the launch of the Octavia vRS, so company unveiled the ultimate baby buggy, dubbed the ‘vRS Mega Man-Pram’ – a high performance vehicle that has been designed to provide the ultimate baby transportation experience. the company gave a team of engineers the task of bringing the same qualities that go into the car to other everyday objects. These included the vRS Man-Pram and were highlighted in a new ad launching the third-generation Octavia vRS.

Educative Gue(ho)st House in France

Architects Christophe Berdaguer and Marie Péjus get scary with this sculptural,bogey-inspired arts center in France. Situated behind the severe Synagogue de Delme, the center's design transforms an old house, which previously served as a prison, a school, and most recently a funeral home. The new intervention draws inspiration from the latter, cloaking the structure in a white veil of molded concrete that creates a "living body" which expands into the surrounding areas of the house.

Wow Realistic Paper Boeing 777 by Luca Laconi Stewart

Inspired by high school architecture class where he was assigned to create simple paper models using cut paper manilla folders, San Francisco-based designer Luca Iaconi-Stewart went home to begin construction on an extremely ambitious project: a 1:60 scale reproduction of a Boeing 777 using some of the techniques he learned in class. That was in 2008, when Iaconi-Stewart was just a junior in high school.
