“One innovative artist has created quirky artwork which re-imagines classical paintings with the faces of famous modern day cover stars such as Angeline Jolie. Multimedia producer Eisen Bernard Bernardo, 28, from Los Baños, Philippines, has created the clever works for his series called “Mag + Art”, where he takes photos of celebrities from magazine covers and carefully places them over images of people in famous classical paintings”. – Caters News. Hong Yi is a Malaysian architect and artist whose impressive portfolio includes work for Chicago’s Union Station, the Melbourne Hall of Music, and alternative medium portraits using coffee stains or tea bags. Her unorthodox approach to creation has led her to her most recent blog project. Over the course of 31 days, Hong Yi (who also goes by Red) will post art pieces made from food. So far, the pieces range from simpler ones of a watermelon sailboat to a complex recreation of Hokusai’s “The Great Wave.”

For more than 2,000 years, women from the Baiga tribe in the highland district of Dindori, in central India’s Madhya Pradesh state, have been tattooed. Sumintra, 25, from Bona village, has the markings across her forehead, legs and arms. The women who work as tattoo artists are knowledgable about the different types of designs and pigments preferred by various tribes, and their meanings are passed to them by their mothers. The tattooing ‘season’ begins with the approach of winter. (Photo by Ronny Sen/WaterAid/The Guardian)

Members of the Michiana Rocketry prep a 10-foot, 450 pound porta-potty, mounted on rocket motors for launching, Saturday, December 6, 2014, from a field in Three Oaks, Mich. It made an arc and almost landed on a spectator’s pickup truck, 2,000 feet away. A group of Michiana Rocketry club members planned the project for more than two years. The club is trying to increase awareness of rocketry as a hobby and prove it’s possible to turn a porta-potty into a rocket and launch it successfully. About 30 people worked on the rocket, from engineers to sales people who lined up sponsors. (Photo by Don Campbell/AP Photo/The Herald-Palladium)
