A Scots soldier has won a top award for his photos vividly depicting Army life in Afghanistan. Swedish photographer Paul Hansen won the 2012 World Press Photo award Friday for newspaper Dagens Nyheter with a picture of two Palestinian children killed in an Israeli missile strike being carried to their funeral.

Each year the society holds quarterly competitions, celebrating a variety of the best image from couples special days.
