The cabinet ministers of the federal republic of Somalia have held on Thursday their weekly meeting in Mogadishu and discussed on the drought situation in parts of the country and its humanitarian consequences. Chaired by the acting PM and justice minister Abdullah Ahmed Jama (Ilka-Jir), the cabinet noted with deep concern the the prevailing situation in Somalia, with one of the worst ever drought in two decades. Council stressed the need for forming a drought response committee to fully mobilize emergency relief for the suffering of the Somali people who are currently in critical need of help. The Drought Response Committee, which is made up of 8 ministers was asigned to asses the scale of the drought in the country. Somali federal government, with the support of th einternational aid agencies are expected to address the drought impacts in local and regional areas to save the lives of tens of thousand of people who are dying for hunger and lack of water in some regions in the country.
