Wondering why the government was so worried that two nations had decided to promise not to go to war with each other. The news of the proposal of a non-aggression pact between Russia and Germany came as a story out of a comic paper until people realized that it was true. A newsboy tempts a city worker with the last edition of paper, in London, August 22, 1939, with the promise of yet more story, whilst a young road sweeper seeks vicariously to solve his puzzlement. North Korean prisoners huddle under barbed wire as they are transported from one compound to another on Koje Island, June 17, 1952. They are surrounded by guards on either side of the road. Allied command moved 22,500 Communist Prisoners of War out of four large compounds without any opposition. The meekness of the prisoners left no doubt that Brig. Gen. Haydon L. Boatner had gained unchallenged control over 80,000 prisoners who only one week earlier ran their compounds unhindered and defied their captors. (Photo by AP Photo)
