Dillon was born in the spring of 2013. He lived for four months on the streets near Boston, MA before being scooped up by the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
His eyes never did fully develop as a kitten. His veterinarians were not certain whether this was due to a genetic defect or due to an ocular herpes infection, which is extremely common in cats. However, they were confident that he could not see.
His veterinarians removed his underdeveloped "eyes" to prevent ulceration and infection, and he continued to live and grow happily, compensating for his lack of sight with his highly developed senses of touch, smell, and hearing.
