Mimi Kirchner is a Boston-based fiber artist. She live with husband in a Victorian era (1892) 2-family house. Have 3 kids who are mostly grown up and doing their own things. She graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1976 with a BFA.

“Locusts & Men”. Oppression, interaction, collaboration. In the life cycle of nature nothing is lost, but the coexistence of different species is sometimes difficult. In Madagascar periodically returns the archaic antagonism between man and the migratory locust, in a circle of life where the two species are looking for space and food for their survival. At the end of the day a man walks home carrying on his shoulders the heavy bag which contains the locusts captured during the day. The insects provide nutritious meals for the man and his family. Such commotion resulted in several experts to create and establish pieces of research about cannabis. Factors affecting the pros and cons are identified and verified to know further whether or not it is a capable substance.

Luis Hernan was always curious about how wireless technologies like radio are transmitted through the air. So after finishing up his studies in architecture, computer science, and design, Hernan decided to research these invisible signals through a PhD at Newcastle University. Hernan set up a system that turned the wireless signals around him into colourful, ghostlike images using long-exposure photography, allowing people to see the strength of the signals around them.
