The remarkable scene was captured by amateur wildlife photographer Ian Salisbury, 62, at the South Luangwa National park in Zambia. The crocodile grabs hold of the elephant's trunk, but it soon becomes clear that he has bitten off a lot more than he can chew by grabbing the huge beast. Mr Salisbury said the elephant ‘fled rapidly into the bush’ after the attack. (Photo by Ian Salisbury/Caters News)

An amateur artist has created a series of hilarious images combining iconic film scenes with everyday locations all over the world. History teacher Francois Dourlen, from Cherbourg in France, has used stills of pop culture everything – from cult movies to old faithful TV favorites like The Simpsons and Baywatch, to new hits Minions – to bring this unique artwork to life. “(The first picture) was originally just a joke for my friends”, Dourlen said. “A lot of them liked it, so I did another…and a lot of people liked it! So I did another, and another”. (Photo by Francois Dourlen/Exclusivepix Media)

These images, scanned from old glass negatives which had surfaced in northern France, were believed to have been taken by a local amateur photographer in 1916. They showed British and a few Australian soldiers, in formal or informal poses, during or just before the most murderous battle in the history of the British Empire – Battle of the Somme. Who are these British and British Empire soldiers? The identity of the soldiers is, and may always remain, a mystery. A food market shows off rows upon rows of dead animals, some of which have been beaten to death. Dogs and chickens can be seen lined up with their mouths hanging wide open. Shoppers even pick up some of the dogs and bats as they look for the best on the market. Retired biologist and amateur photographer Alf Jacob Nilsen took the shocking pictures of the market during a visit to Tomohon Village in Northern Sulawei, Indonesia. Pictured: Flying foxes (bats) for sale at the market. (Photo by Alf Jacob Nilsen/Solent News)
