“Girl in Copacabana Beach”. In the end of the afternoon I could capture the last moments of the pale light of the sun bathing my daughter, while she was playing on the beach. “Camping in Style”. Camping at Lake Powell is an fairly regular tradition in my family, and this time I decided to take my camera along. This shot was taken a little bit after sunset, and while it's usually very hard for me to tear myself away from the campfire (smores!) at the end of the day, it was pretty cool to get a shot of our boat against the very distinctive red rock and blue water of the lake. Photo location: Lake Powell, Utah, USA. (Photo and caption by Ritu Vincent/National Geographic Photo Contest)

“The Dreamer”. I was backpacking through East and Central Africa and found myself on this bus from Dar es Salaam to Lushoto. A young boy and his brother were sitting in front of me, and I had been showing them pictures of my nephews who were roughly the same age - photography doesn't need to be translated from English to Kiswahili. This particular boy became entranced by the scenery as we approached the Usambara Mountains, and I quickly snapped this candid photo. (Photo and caption by Spencer Callahan/National Geographic Photo Contest)

“Paddling Dreams”. Stand up paddle boarders head out on a perfect full moon, windless evening in late September at Sesuit Harbor on Cape Cod. Waterproof LED lights are attached to the bottom of the boards, illuminating the water below which meant the paddlers could see fish passing by. I photographed this from a jetty overlooking the harbor and was stunned by the beauty of it. Photo location: Sesuit Harbor, Dennis, MA.
