This rare aurora looks just like the Northern frights as a spooky face was caught on camera looming ominously in the sky. The unusual sight was photographed by Tom Mackie during a trip to Iceland in this year. The bizarre vision – which also appears to resemble the iconic Christmas Scrooge The Grinch – hovers with a weird green-red glow in the night sky. Below the frightening spectre a small isolated clutch of buildings can be seen as if caught in the creatures gaze... (Photo by Tom Mackie/Caters News)

Beautiful Northern Lights illuminate the night sky above Sutherland, in the north coast of Scotland. Shot by snapper Karen Munro, 38, the celestial display dazzled photographers across the Northern Hemisphere on Tuesday night. The phenomenon, also known as Aurora Borealis, is caused by eruptions on the sun, resulting in a mesmerizing light display. And because of increased solar activity, Tuesday's lights were much stronger than expected. (Photo by Karen Munro/Barcroft Media via Getty Images)
