An adult whooping crane, a critically endangered species, walks on a levee between crawfish ponds with its recently born chick, in Jefferson Davis Parish, La., Monday, June 11, 2018. Flamingoes gather for their afternoon feeding at the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Thousands of greater flamingos live in the saltwater wetland park along the banks of the Dubai Creek. The 6-kilometer (3.73-mile) park was created by a ruler’s decree in 1985 and later fenced off. The black drongo lands on the five-foot-wingspan eagle and appears to peck it on the back of the head in the stunning snaps. Wildlife photographer Liu Chia-Pin snapped the crested serpent eagle resting on a branch as it tried to eat a snake it had caught in Taipei, Taiwan in Asia. The drongo then flew low and perched on the bird of prey. And the eagle eventually made off. The snapper said: “When the eagle was about to eat a snake, he did not expect the small bird to pounce. The small bird drove at the eagle and attacked. This species often shows aggressive behaviour to larger birds”. (Photo by Liu Chia-Pin/Hitchhiker/MediaDrumWorld.com)

Tens of thousands of identical birds cover every inch of a British farm as they come to steal cattle feed. The starlings, which travel to the UK every winter, pick up the the cows' food in what looks like a moving floor of blues, blacks and beaks. The tiny birds in their vast numbers stand in rows and columns almost like a crowd waiting to hear a great speech. But the cows seem completely unfazed by the presence of the birds and carry on as normal. (Photo by Frederic Desmette/Solent News and Photo Agency)

This perfectly-timed GoPro snap captures the moment an angrymagpiecame within inches of a biker, as swooping season takes hold in Australia. The notoriously aggressive bird can be seen flying with its wings tucked in so it looks exactly like a torpedo in the magnificent photograph from Middlemount, Queensland. Retail businesswoman Monique Newton, 53 was riding pillion with a friend when she spied the divebombing bird – but rather than speed off, they slowed down to capture it up close.
