In New York City the eclipse was viewed with 95% of coverage. Millions of people took to the streets to see the beauty of such event. From rooftops, street corners and parks as in these images everyone gathered with their eclipse glasses to marvel over the event. Yin and yang swans were spotted flirting with each other in Lakeland, Florida in the first decade of April 2024. Swans once disappeared from Lakeland in 1954, the last one falling victim to an alligator attack. To bring the birds back to the place, a pair of White Mute swans were shipped from England and released in Lake Morton in 1957. Descendants of that pair continue to grace the city's many lakes. Death Valley in east California has exploded in colour as the yellow desert gold wildflower (Geraea canescens) bloom in a rare event. The rare event in the first decade of April 2024 has seen the ordinarily desolate national park burst into flower, with yellow desert gold wildflowers dominating the landscape in remarkable fashion. Death Valley is the hottest place on earth and the driest place in North America, with temperatures recorded as high as 134 degrees Fahrenheit (56.7 degrees Celsius).
