A period of relative stability has put the Iranian capital No1 on the list of world cities that have achieved biggest improvements in liveability over the past five years, as calculated by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Austrian photographer Klaus Pichler has come up with an interesting and creative take on portrait photography – his photo series “Just The Two Of Us” features portraits of people dressed as their cosplay alter-egos. What’s fun about this series is that it seems to combine the costumed characters and the people wearing them, as the sometimes-fearsome characters are photographed in the relatively tame safety of their own homes.

Israeli designer HIlla Shamia has found a way to mix “oil and water” or aluminum and wood – two materials I’ve never seen fused together. The product designer has created a novel way to meld both poured aluminum with irregular wood chunks to create modern tables and benches with a warm industrial feel. Old world and new world in one.
