Reem Fawzy (L), the director of the Pink Taxi company, stands with her drivers in a parking lot in Cairo, Egypt, September 6, 2015. Pink uniforms, a pink logo on the cars, and even pink nail polish – it's all part of the look of women-drivers working for Egypt's first women-only taxi service. The Pink Taxi company hires only women drivers and gives rides to only female passengers. The company was started in an effort to provide a safe taxi service for women in a country with high rates of sexual harassment, said Reem Fawzy, the director of the company. People use snowshoes during a tour of the Great Kemeri Bog, Latvia, October 17, 2015. The Kemeri bog is more than 8,000 years old and is one of the largest dry moss swamps in the Baltics. A more than decade-long joint restoration of the bog by the European Union and the Latvian government helped the bog recover its high moss marshes, damp black alder forests, floodplain meadows and seaside lakes – features now considered rare in Europe due to industrialisation. Abdulahi Yaroow, 13, smokes a cigarette while chewing khat at the same time in Mogadishu August 10, 2014. Grown on plantations in the highlands of Kenya and Ethiopia, tonnes of khat, or qat, dubbed “the flower of paradise” by its users, are flown daily into Mogadishu airport, to be distributed from there in convoys of lorries to markets across Somalia. Britain, whose large ethnic Somali community sustained a lucrative demand for the leaves, banned khat from July as an illegal drug. This prohibition jolted the khat market, creating a supply glut in Somalia and pushing down prices, to the delight of the many connoisseurs of its amphetamine-like high.
