A girl stands with arms outstretched at North Narrabeen on January 27, 2024 in Sydney, Australia. Around 30 indigenous children from Brewarrina, Weilmoringle, and Goodooga in the far North West NSW travelled to Sydney to participate in the program. The initiative is part of the Bush to Beach programme, which now in its 19th year, gives indigenous children a unique opportunity to learn and explore Sydney's beach culture. The efforts are made possible entirely by volunteers, donations and sponsorship. Bush to Beach is a charity dedicated to inspiring hope, confidence, and self-esteem and promoting education for Aussie bush kids, a release by the charity said. This trip is a reward for school attendance and an opportunity for the kids to see that there is another world outside their community and help develop confidence and self-esteem, according to Bush to Beach co-founder Jack Cannons. Cave Diver, Anhumas Abyss, Bonito, Brazil: The Anhumas Abyss is an underground cavern with a crystal-clear lake below, more than 260 feet (79 m) deep. A visitor must enter through a narrow opening at the top of the chamber and rappel into the cave. Snorkeling and scuba diving in the lake reveal amazing scenery. Distinctive, conical limestone stalagmites and stalactites occupy the lake and the surrounding area, some reaching 65 feet (20 m) high. “One must rappel about 235 feet (72 m) to get down into this deep lake. The photo was taken at a depth of 50 feet (15 m). It was a challenge to create the image because of the high contrast, plus the diver could not see into the darkness, making communication impossible”. A chained male monkey in a costume and wearing a toy mask performs at a street in Depok, West Java, Indonesia, 30 September 2021. A performing monkey in a street, known as “Topeng Monyet” (lit. Monkey Mask), is a popular form of cheap entertainment in Indonesia, especially on the island of Java. During a street monkey show, a trainer issues orders by pulling the chain tied around the primate's neck, forcing it to perform tricks such as wearing a mask or riding a toy motorcycle. The Indonesian government in 2013 banned the Topeng Monyet in the capital Jakarta to improve public order and ending animal abuse. However, monkey performances are still popular in several other parts of the country, such as West Java, especially after the government lowered the level of Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in a number of areas during the COVID-19 pandemic.
