On Earth Day this year, NASA asked people all around the world a question: “Where are you on Earth Right Now?” To answer this question people were asked to post their selfie on social media. The goal was to use each picture as a pixel in the creation of a “Global Selfie” – a mosaic image that would look like Earth appeared from the space. The 3.2 gigapixel “Global Selfie”, was made the with 36,422 individual images.

Hirotoshi Itoh graduated from Tokyo National Fine Arts University in 1982 and later went into his family business as a stonemason. He spent several years working with metal before turning his attention to stones. He utilizes stones found in a river bank near his home, and he creates sculptures that juxtapose the original shape and hardness of the material with surprising humor and texture. These kaleidoscopic images are the work of one persistent photographer’s efforts to capture vibrant hues at the exact moment a wave breaks. Ryan Pernofski‘s stunning shots feature brilliant yellows, reds, blues and purples as an array of sunlight hits the water at the perfect time. What’s even more impressive: Ryan, a 27-year-old Australian, began shooting his popular masterpieces without using a professional camera, taking his iPhone out into the water instead. Nobumichi Asai has used projection mapping to put CGI onto cars, docks, building and more. What is his latest canvas? A real, live human face! Asai used Omote, a combination of real-time face tracking and projection mapping to transform a model's face into mesmerizing patterns. It's called “electronic makeup”, but as you will see in the (creepy-ish) video, it goes much, much beyond anything makeup can possibly do.
