These surfing penguins are making waves as they glide gracefully across the ocean.They are showcasing their talent as they arrive on the East Coast beach of New Island in the Falklands.The penguins are of the gentoo species, characterised by their bright orange bills and the distinctive white stripes on their heads. A well-dressed bulldog has amassed thousands of fans online, after her owner took to dressing her up in wildly elaborate outfits and posting the pictures to the photo-sharing site Instagram. Tania Ahsan, 31, of New York, has posted online over 500 pictures of her patient pooch, Maya, and nearly 70,000 people have followed her exploits. A period of relative stability has put the Iranian capital No1 on the list of world cities that have achieved biggest improvements in liveability over the past five years, as calculated by the Economist Intelligence Unit. A photographer has created a series of paw-traits of hungry dogs pulling hilarious faces as they try and catch treats. Using a unique technique, the shots are captured at the exact moment the adorable pooches attempt to catch an airborne piece of food. The dogs appear surprised, happy, sad, confused – and sometimes even so blasé they miss the treat entirely. The images were taken by Christian Vieler, a photographer from Waltrop, Germany. An inventive make-up artist has started using her chin as a canvas for unique paintings of popular cartoon characters. Using her own mouth as the teeth and lips of her subjects, stunning Laura Jenkinson, 25, paints around them using theatrical make-up to create the pint-sized portraits. Shrek, Finding Nemo’s Dory and the Genie from Aladdin have all featured in the series of incredible pictures that she has spent a year putting together.
